Qatar launches first U.S. Airbus 350 flights
Qatar Airways becomes the first commercial airline to fly the Airbus A350 to the United States this month. The Gulf carrier was the global launch customer of the new state-of-the-art aircraft, flying the jet to Europe, Asia and the Americas.
The airline’s fleet of seven A350s currently flies twice a day to Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUN) and three times a day to Singapore (SIN) from Doha (DOH. An eighth is set to join Qatar’s fleet before the end of the year and is scheduled to launch daily service to Philadelphia (PHL) Jan. 1, 2016. As more aircraft join the fleet, Qatar plans to begin service to Boston (BOS) on March 16, New York (JFK) from April 1, and Adelaide, Australia, from May 2.
The business-class cabin of the A350 has 36 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration featuring an 80-inch, fully-flat bed and 17-inch, HD in-flight entertainment screen.
